Lesson 2: Traditional Knowledge and Collaborative Research

Students will explore some examples of Traditional Knowledge (or Indigenous Knowledge) pertaining to resource management in the Great Bear Sea region, including two local seasonal rounds (or seasonal use cycles). They will be introduced to the concept of collaborative research, and learn about some of the innovative approaches to research taking place through partnerships between local communities, First Nations and academic researchers in the Great Bear Sea. They will consider how collaborative research might contribute to sustainability and marine planning.
